Custom Collagen is the distributor of VYSE® Professional Grade Ballistic Gelatin. Now you can buy the same professional quality used by the FBI, Military, Law Enforcement plus Ammunition and Gun Manufacturers around the world. VYSE® Professional Ballistic & Ordnance Gelatin is specially formulated to simulate human body density.
Other brands on the market are principally made and sold for food applications. However, we have committed to this highly specialized ballistic gelatin industry. Through years of testing and customer feedback, we have fine-tuned our ballistic gelatin product specification. It now has the tightest tolerance in the industry. The result is that our gelatin simulates human organ density so closely that it is used by medical universities and hospitals to calibrate ultrasounds and imaging equipment.

Is the gelatin transparent?
Yes, turbidity is less than 25 ntu.
Can the gelatin be re-used?
No! Used blocks are discarded.
How many test shots per block?
1 shot per block is recommended. The shot should enter the center of the small end of the block and travel the length of the block.
How long will the gelatin powder last?
When gelatin powder is kept in an air tight container in a cool, dry place, the powder will keep indefinitely.
How long will the finished gelatin block last?
When the block is finished, it will last 7-10 days in a refrigerator. Outside of refrigeration in cool, laboratory conditions, the block should last up to 6 hours. In outdoor range conditions, the block must be used immediately.
What are the dimensions of the test block?
Blocks used for testing conventional pistol ammunition are approximately 6.25" x 6.25" x 16"
How much gelatin do I use?
The mixture is 10% by weight. The mentioned research shows that, properly calibrated, 10% ballistic ordnance gelatin is a reliable tissue simulant.
Do I need de-foamer?
No. It is not required to make the block. We offer de-foamer as an aid when high speed mixing equipment is used for mass production of ballistic gelatin blocks.
Are the molds and liners reusable?
The liners are NOT reusable. The mold can usually be reused two or three times.
How should the finished gelatin block be stored?
The gelatin block should be kept in the refrigerator until it is ready to be used. It should be treated the same way any meat product is treated.
